Christina Cooper grew up immersed in archeology through her dad, and music through her mom, with her first trip to Mesoamerican archeology sites as a baby, and her first song played on the piano at age 4. She was richly blessed not by material possessions, but through all the adventures her dad and mom provided her and her sisters, introducing them to vibrant cultures, beautiful and loving indigenous people, and a fascinating world of discovery seeking for truth based on God’s word in the scriptures. With that sense of discovery, she fulfilled a lifelong goal and returned to college after her youngest of five boys started elementary school.

She earned her degree in Family Studies, researching successful women and marriages across diverse religions, as well as interfaith marriages and families, presenting at various local, national and international conferences on families. A dedicated volunteer in the LDS church and her children’s schools, she also has taught piano throughout her life. Her greatest fulfillment comes from being with her husband Greg, and her five boys, two daughters-in-law, and two granddaughters.

Her testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is her most prized possession and she strives to center her life in Christ as she holds to the truthfulness and direction found in the Book of Mormon and Bible. She believes in the teachings of Christ found in their pages: that God loves all people and is in “relentless pursuit” of them; that goodness can be found in all walks of life and religions; and that unity and peace may be achieved as we extend love seeking for the good in others, our commonalities with all women and men, and strengthen families.

Christina Cooper on the Book of Mormon

One loved scripture for her is 2 Nephi 26:24 — “He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him. Wherefore, he commandeth none that they shall not partake of his salvation.”
